Today I found out a classmate of mine was shot and killed on Thanksgiving weekend. He was a Mountie responding to the call of duty.I went to primary and then high school with Chris Worden.
I didn't know him well, although I do remember him as one of the nice ones. I wasn't popular at school, and a I was teased a lot especially in primary school, but I remember Chris as being one of the nice ones who never got mixed up in that. He was always polite with me.
Still, what is weirding me out is finding out about his passing because people were joining a group in his memorial on Facebook. From there I could read articles and see the newscasts on the story all on my PC while I sat at home recovering from an ear op.
It kinda felt like I was invading his privacy. I mean, we were never friends, should I be reading so much about his passing? It felt voyeuristic.
I do feel for his wife, and especially for his baby daughter who will never know him. Also, it is upsetting that someone you knew was murdered to coldly and senselessly. I hope the killer gets his just deserts.

Sorry to hear that. The Internet is so intrusive whether we want it or not. I agree that passings should be left as private as possible.
My heart goes out to his wife and child and I hope justice is served.
